Our goal is to break through information filters of many Americans whose main news sources are controlled by media moguls. Our cartoons will help voters realize that “facts” from the news social media is heavily tainted by billionaires, and regardless of political party or education level they are pushed to act in favor of the wealthy, even if this goes deeply against voters’ own interests.

Political cartoons are one of the most successful ways to reach audiences through satire, with a few words and well-crafted artwork. But digital algorithms and the death of printed newspapers (except those owned by the mega-rich), make it harder to get this great media in front of voters’ eyes. Cartoons are “at a glance” messaging that impacts people with a wide variety of educational backgrounds and political interest levels.​​

Cartoons for Democracy is a women-founded and -run nonprofit, and all artwork is donated, purchased, or licensed. We do not ever knowingly use AI or accept AI-produced artwork or writing.
