Call for Artists

Cartoons for Democracy accepts donations in exchange for blank Get Out The Vote postcards.

Are you an artist who would like to see your work on postcards sent to thousands of voters around the country? We would love to offer your art as postcards for activists to use. Here are the basic guidelines of what we look for:

  • No negativity or profanity; nothing referring to a person, candidate, or political party; and no promoting violence (ie: no punching Nazis, satisfying though that is).

  • Art from anyone under 18 is welcome, but an adult would need to sign a release on their behalf.

  • We oppose the use of AI-generated images. In solidarity with statements issued by organizations such as the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists, The National Cartoonists Society, and the Society of Illustrators, we do not support the use of AI not only because it undermines the livelihood of artists and is destroying the environment, but because it's very existence is based on unauthorized use of existing artwork. Cartoons for Democracy never knowingly accepts or uses AI.

Please do not submit any unsolicited art, instead contact us through this form to discuss further. All participating artists will need to sign a release allowing us to use their work. Below are some examples of the kind of postcard art we can accept.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

Art must fit on half of the postcard as indicated. Please keep any text 1/4" from the outer edges for optimal printing.

  • Inches (minimum):  3” wide x 4” high

  • Resolution: 300-600 pixels per inch

Original artwork does not need to be digital, so long as we can get a digital image of the final product. Paintings, ink blocks, pastels, etc. are all viable options to use.
