Location
If you are in a position, and feel comfortable offering, to host people in your home that is one option, but many people also choose a park, coffee shop, or similar place where people can meet up for 1-2 hours and be social. If you host in your home or at a park, you may want to provide snacks and drinks appropriate for the time of day you are hosting.
Supplies
You should provide pens and highlighters, and if possible also stickers if that is something your attendees will be interested in using (remember, do not put stickers on the “address side” of a postcard, as they can interfere with USPS scanners). We recommend having multi-colored pens and highlighters so participants can satisfy their creative needs!
Postcards & Messages
You can purchase postcard kits from us or another source, or you can buy blank postcards and get addresses from other providers online. Regardless of where you source your cards you should make sure you print enough “directions pages” for each person to have their own set of instructions, and you should provide some sample cards or images of sample cards.
Addresses
Provide address lists for each person. Depending on the length of the message, most people tend to complete 5-10 cards per hour. If you have a large list of addresses, cut them into strips of 5 per person attending. We also recommend crossing off the entire name when completed, as just putting a “checkmark” is more likely to not be noticed and cause confusion at the end of the event.
Stamps
Ensure you have enough stamps for each postcard created, or take ownership for getting stamps after the event is complete if need be. It is the host’s responsibility to ensure that all cards created get mailed.
Review, Review, Review!
We strongly encourage one person at each party be the designated “card reviewer” to ensure the message is written completely, clearly, and does not have additional or missing information. This happens more often than you might think!

Host a Postcard Party
If you are interested in doing postcards with groups of other like-minded people, you can search online for groups near you, or you can host your own postcard party - it's Easy! These are our guidelines after 8+ years of experience hosting weekly postcard parties.

Costs
Decide up front what you are comfortable with in terms of the cost of hosting a postcard party. You can cover the cost of supplies yourself, or ask people to pay a few dollars, or make a “pay what you can” donation. Make sure all attendees are aware of this. Also be sure to decide how postage will be paid for, as this will be the most expensive part.
